Together with Sky Italia, Sky UK and Think Cattleya, the idea was to create an original mini Virtual Reality series that would be a bridge between the second and third season of the Gomorrah TV Show. This would actually be a new kind of product: for the first time a Virtual Reality production turns into a mini series.
The 360° Video has been made with different shooting techniques. For moving scenes, a powered wirecam was used with a stabilized rig made up of 10 Gopro. The static scenes were made with a custom rig made up of 4 Sony A7SII. Those shooting techniques have given a strong impact on the storytelling. A special microphone for Virtual Reality, the Sennheiser 3d Ambeo, has been used for this production. Especially in post production we have to work a lot on crafting/removing and stabilize the footage in order to avoid motion sickness and have a deepest experience for the user: everything has contributed to make the experience realistic and engaging.
The result is an immersive experience that transports the viewer directly into the world of Gomorrah. This production was the only Italian title in competition at the 74th Venice Film Festival in the "Venice Virtual Reality" section, introduced for the first time in this Festival edition.
